Candle Ceremony

The Candlelight Ceremony was conceived by the founder of the Business and Professional Women's Association, Mrs. Lena Madesin Phillips, and is performed worldwide every year by all BPW's .
In 1938 , in a solemn act, the Candle Ceremony was instituted, which are lit to symbolize the aspirations, courage, perseverance and efforts of dedicated women in all countries of the world, highlighting the professional development and leadership potential for women at all levels of business and professionals around the world.
The light of each candle symbolizes the commitment of the associates to work so that women are able to participate in the economic, social, legal and political life of the city, the country and the world.

A vela azul representa a primeira Federação das Associações de Mulheres de Negócios e Profissionais no mundo.
A vela vermelha representa a Federação Internacional.
A vela rosa representa todas as Federações Nacionais e Clubes Filiados à BPW Internacional nos diversos países do mundo.
A vela verde representa a Federação das Associações de Mulheres de Negócios e Profissionais do Brasil.
A vela lilás representa todas as BPW’s do Brasil.
A vela amarela representa a Associação de Mulheres de Negócios e Profissionais locais.
A vela branca representa o futuro da paz entre todos os povos.
